Erika Jayne said that the last year has been the “darkest” period of her life amid her divorce from Tom Girardi and the legal battles that followed.

“This has been the darkest part of my life,” Jayne told E! News’ Daily Pop on Friday. “Just the most desperate, most afraid I’ve ever been in my life. Most unsure, most volatile. I’ve been angry, I’ve been sad, I’ve been happy, I’ve been everything. And it’s really challenged me to my core.”

In late January, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, 50, was dismissed from the ongoing embezzlement and fraud lawsuit against Girardi, 82.

“You know, when they can’t get to that man, then they turn to his partner. And that’s what I think has happened,” Jayne continued.

“I think that I have taken a lot of the attention that should be for other people. Other people, not just person, people. I’ve been the whipping girl for a lot of people and I’ve taken the beating in the public when others should be.”

The Bravolebrity also claimed that if she wasn’t a reality star, her and Girardi’s legal drama wouldn’t have been as “magnified.”

“I think it would be a bad legal story and I think it would have gone away,” she continued. “I do think that because I am on a reality TV show, it is magnified.”

The “Pretty Mess” singer and her estranged husband were sued in December 2020 by Edelson PC for allegedly embezzling settlement funds meant to service the victims of Lion Air Flight 610, according to federal court documents.

The lawsuit alleged that Jayne, who filed for divorce just one month before Girardi’s legal troubles began, filed so she could “fraudulently protect Tom’s and Erika’s money from those that seek to collect on debts owed by Tom and his law firm GK.”

Jayne also faced possible legal repercussions from allegedly using Girardi’s clients’ money to pay for her extravagant lifestyle. The reality star previously defended her spending habits – including a whopping $14 million American Express tab.

Jayne had previously denied a “sham” divorce and any involvement in or knowledge of Girardi’s alleged illegal activities.

Despite being dismissed from the case in Illinois, Edelson PC said in January they were planning to refile the case in California.
