J.K. Rowling just launched a magical Harry Potter At Home hub for kids and parents in isolation

Struggling to keep the kids amused? Well, it seems like a magic wand has been waved somewhere, conjuring up Hogwarts-themed classes to be enjoyed whilst in lockdown.

From J.K. Rowling herself, these classes are sure to amuse any avid Potter fans out there, with a brand new website offering children and parents alike the gift of quizzes, puzzles, nifty magical craft videos and more.

So, if you fancy slytherin on to the website then visit the Harry Potter At Home hub on wizardingworld.com, and, abracadabra, a world of wizarding awaits.

Sharing the link to the new and exciting site, J.K. Rowling said: “Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we're on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I'm delighted to launch HarryPotterAtHome.com.”

So, what can you expect? Well on the website itself, a notice explains: “Welcome to the Harry Potter At Home hub where you'll find all the latest magical treats to keep you occupied – including special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world.”

Adding: “We're casting a Banishing Charm on boredom!"

  • How your children can make money while away from school during lockdown – they just need a dog

  • Argos are selling affordable trampolines to liven up your lockdown like Perrie Edwards

And thanks to this banishing charm, you can expect a whole host of fun on the site. Proceedings begin as you find out which Hogwarts House you’re a part of and then, pretending you’re a real Hogwarts student, you do some ‘First Year Quizzes.’

Next, journey on to activities such as word searches, crosswords, guides on how to draw Harry Potter-related things, and much, much more.

Parents have already taken to Twitter to declare their excitement over the fun new website.

One wrote: “OMG thank you for this. We are spending our lock down days reading Harry Potter – currently on book 3. My son is 9 and adores them but we had to stop him reading in bed as he was getting so excited he couldn't sleep so now we read in the kitchen before bed." [sic]

All the celebrities offering free home school lessons including Joe Wicks, Myleene Klass and Carol Vorderman

Another gushed: “This is DEFINITELY going to be a source of entertainment for me as well. I'm neither a parent, teacher or caregiver! Thank you for releasing this, you're helping a lot of people. Off to draw a Niffler now.”

And a third penned: “This site is awesome! Kind of like if Hogwarts offered remote learning."

As well as the Harry Potter website, J.K. Rowling recently announced that she was relaxing the license surrounding people reading Harry Potter books on video.

  • Baby names you should choose if you want your children to be rich

This is to allow teachers read to children at home in need be, as millions are having to be homeschooled at present as a result of the deadly virus.

A statement on J.K. Rowling’s website reads: “The open licence for teachers is the first of several initiatives being planned to help bring Harry Potter to children at home."

So, what are you waiting for? Potter away on the new magical website.
