Man learning to play trumpet in lockdown finds unexpected notes from neighbours
During lockdown, many of us have been started exploring new hobbies.
We’ve had much more time to learn languages, read books, start art projects or cook up a storm in the kitchen.
And one chap decided he’d hone his trumpet playing skills.
He took up the instrument – and probably feared he was driving his neighbours around the bend with all the practicing.
The newbie trumpeter put up a sign on his door, which read: “I apologise for the trumpet. It’s going to be rough for a while”.
But to his surprise, the residents living nearby didn’t seem to mind about hearing the brass music.
According to the Mirror, one neighbour wrote back: "Hey! Been listening to you for a month! You are awesome!
“Love listening to you…keep it up and thank you."
Others thanked him for his saxophone playing – it's unclear whether the man is a musical genius, or the neighbours got confused.
One replied: "Dear neighbour, your saxophone playing brings me joy, thanks!"
Another added: "Your saxophone playing brings us joy as well! Cheers."
The delighted man replied to all the kind notes, saying: "Thank you so much! I worry that it may annoy people.
"It means the world to me that you enjoy it."
People on Reddit enjoyed the heart-felt notes, which the original poster say were penned in New York.
A responder said the story was very uplifting to read about during lockdown.
They remarked: “These little silver linings make all the difference at this moment in time."
