Meghan Markle's Tabloid Lawsuit May End Up 'Disastrous' for Duchess, Says Insider
Joining the royal family and living life as one of the most famous people in the world may sound like a dream to some, but for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, it was anything but. As a successful actress long before ever meeting her husband, Prince Harry, Meghan was famous in her own right, although the attention she was received was nothing to what it became after becoming part of the British Monarchy.
Suddenly, Meghan found herself with virtually no privacy, and she was constantly taking backlash from the tabloids and news media. As if that wasn’t enough, the duchess was dealing with her own family issues, especially with her estranged sister, Samantha Markle, and her estranged father, Thomas Markle.
Just about all royal fans know how difficult that situation was for Meghan, and it isn’t exactly over yet. Here is how Meghan’s tabloid lawsuit may end up “disastrous” for the duchess, according to an insider.
The Duchess of Sussex’s whirlwind life
When Meghan was growing up in LA, California, there is no way that she could have ever predicted how famous she would become. The duchess came from a pretty typical family, and although her parents were divorced, she was close with both of them as a child, teen, and even into adulthood.
Meghan was extremely popular in high school and college, and after graduation, she went on to take some small roles in movies and television before landing a spot on the legal drama Suits. It was on the world’s most talked-about blind date that the former actress was introduced to her now-husband Prince Harry, and the couple is parents to a one-year-old son, Archie Harrison.
Life as a royal wasn’t at all what Meghan thought it would be, and shortly after Archie’s birth, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be resigning from royal duties. Suddenly, the couple’s royal exit was in full swing, and after spending some time in Canada, the family settled down in Meghan’s home state of California.
Meghan is currently involved in a high-profile lawsuit
Things have been pretty complicated for Meghan since she and Prince Harry got married. It is really no secret that she is involved in a bitter lawsuit against the British tabloids for publishing parts of a personal letter that she wrote to her father describing her feelings in detail.
Meghan never intended for anyone except Thomas Markle to read that letter, and we can’t imagine how devastated she was when the tabloids shared it with the entire world. Even Prince Harry was angry, going so far as to release a statement awhile back, saying that the media “vilified her almost daily for the past nine months.”
He was extremely loyal in standing by his wife’s side, continuing that “in addition to their unlawful publication of this private document, they purposely misled you by strategically omitting select paragraphs, specific sentences, and even singular words to mask the lies they had perpetuated for over a year.”
Meghan’s lawsuit may end up ‘disastrous’
So, how is it that Meghan’s lawsuit could end up doing more harm for her and Prince Harry than good? According to a source, reports BestLife, if she continues to move forward, her father could end up testifying against her during the trial. The insider says “that would be disastrous” for Meghan if it were to happen.
Surely, Meghan does not want to compromise her privacy, and things could get even worse than they are now. If her father testifies, it pits her against her father once again. Furthermore, there’s no telling what information would be leaked in the testimony.
Another source says that “the best course of action may well be to drop the lawsuit and not look back.”
This lines up with what Mark Stephens, an attorney based out of London, told Newsweek: “If I was advising Meghan, I’d be saying get out now. The risk is that how she curates her reputation, what she allows into the public domain and what she doesn’t, are now things that will be picked over by lawyers in cross-examination. The stakes are enormous because at the moment her reputation is not damaged particularly.”
