Meghan’s honeymoon must-have label? It’s at John Lewis! FEMAIL reveals six stylish ways to wear the all-American brand

  • Meghan Markle was regularly seen out in Madewell clothing before her wedding
  • The American label has recently become available at John Lewis in West London
  • British style expert, Emily Monckton shared flattering styles from the collection

Were you to guess what Meghan Markle would be wearing on her honeymoon, chances are the brand Madewell would be very high up on the list.

Madewell, the easier-to-get-along-with little sister to J Crew, is an off-duty favourite of hers, and prior to the wedding she was regularly seen out in Madewell jeans and mid-blue denim jackets usually teamed with her signature white shirt, tote bag and trademark Madewell Panama hat.

For years, the brand’s affordable-luxe Seventies-vibe dresses, well-cut jeans, Breton tops, leather jackets, understated jewellery and timeless accessories were only available to buy either in the U.S. or online. But now Meghan may well be traipsing down the aisles of John Lewis’s new West London store at Westfield, where the all-American label is flying off the shelves.

Stacey Duguid revealed Meghan Markle’s go-to brand Madewell has arrived at John Lewis. Style expert Emily Monckton shared how to pair items from the collection. Pictured: Top £65, Jeans £128, Madewell at John Lewis. Shoes £119,

According to Jo Bennett, head of womenswear buying at John Lewis, a three-quarter length style called ‘the Cali crop is one of the bestselling jeans, along with soft blouses and high-rise styles’, but the 400-piece collection is full of timeless denim looks that are both great quality and reasonably priced.

Well-cut jeans in an array of styles and washes are around £100, with T-shirts around £45. Along with a range of last-forever accessories, these are the hard-to-find building blocks of a woman’s wardrobe, pieces seemingly forgotten by a High Street currently obsessed with tricky trends.

Joyce Lee, head of design at Madewell, says she’s on a mission to dress you in clothes that stand the test of time, which ‘seamlessly fit with your lifestyle and are an extension of who you are’.

Bravo. It’s about time.

It’s exclusive to Westfield White City for now; in August, Madewell will be sold in selected John Lewis stores nationwide.

May we suggest you form an orderly queue behind one well-dressed royal for the canvas Transport Tote (£158.59), a company bestseller that’s available in several colours and fabrics. Like the rest of the collection, it’s stylish and, yes, made well.
