New Year’s Eve will be slightly different for some people again this year, as the number of Covid cases continues to spiral in the UK. But, celebrations and parties will still be taking place around the country, and you can follow the action right here.
Almost 200,000 people have tested positive for Covid each day since the middle of this week in the UK.
England remains the only nation in the UK to avoid imposing harsher restrictions after Christmas.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed earlier this week that New Year’s parties will be going ahead.
But, everyone should take extra precautions and take a lateral flow test before leaving their home, he said.
The PM said: “Everybody should enjoy New Year but in a cautious and sensible way.
“Take a test, ventilation, think about others but, above all, get a booster.”
Conservative MPs have largely backed Mr Johnson for not introducing stricter rules.
Earlier this month, 100 Tory MPs rebelled against the Government and chose to vote against the plan to introduce Covid certification for certain venues.
