The spike in sales comes as Britain continues to bask in a heatwave – and many face the daily struggle of feeling their thighs rubbing together in the heat.

The anti-chafing bands, which are available on Wowcher for £4.99 instead of £14.99, come in beige and black and can be worn to slimline the upper leg.

Maximum comfort: The bands made headlines last month when online retailer Pretty Little Thing launched its own range – quickly selling out in every size.

The product mimics the look of the tops of stockings and stretches a few inches down the thigh, providing maximum protection where it matters.

Shoppers have been raving about the product on Twitter, calling them a ‘life saver’ and an ‘investment’.

Commenting on the boom Sam Eley, Marketing Analyst at Wowcher, said: ‘Chafing can happen all year round, but the current sustained summer heatwave hasn’t helped reduce thigh friction.

‘During peak trading hours we are selling as many as one pair of anti-chafing bands per minute, and in the first half of July, we have already sold 88 per cent more bands than in the whole of June.

‘Aiming to reduce any pain from rubbing, the bands slip on easily to protect your skin and provide extra support too.’
