Sharon Osbourne has hired private security after receiving death threats over controversy surrounding her rumored racist behavior on the set of “The Talk.”
TMZ reported early Friday that the CBS co-host is taking extra steps for her and her family’s safety after her social media was flooded with terrifying threats and her personal phone has been ringing with threats.
The private security guards have been stationed outside the Osbournes’ Los Angeles-area home all week to keep an eye an out for anyone who may try to harm her.
Meanwhile, Osbourne has turned off comments on her most recent Instagram posts because of angry and nasty comments.
Osbourne, 68, has been embroiled in scandal for allegedly referring to Julie Chen as a “wonton” during their time together on “The Talk.” The bombshell report released Tuesday cited multiple sources, including former “The Talk” co-host Leah Remini, claiming Osbourne also referred to Chen, who is Chinese-American, as “slanty eyes” and to former co-host Sara Gilbert, who is a lesbian, as a “p—y licker.”
But the embattled talk show co-anchor first came under fire following a heated discussion last week with co-host Sheryl Underwood, when Osbourne defended her pal Piers Morgan for saying he didn’t believe Megan Markle’s statements in her and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Osbourne tweeted a general apology over her Morgan-related comments last Friday, writing, “To anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry.”
“The Talk” announced earlier this week the show would be on temporary hiatus while producers investigate Osbourne’s actions but ultimately extended the break another week.
Osbourne’s fate on the CBS talk show remains up in the air.
