Tesco, Sainsbury's, Iceland & Co-op recall foods amid 'norovirus' fears including seafood and chicken

TESCO, Sainsbury's, Iceland and Co-op are recalling several food items amid "norovirus" fears – including seafood and chicken.

The recalled items – which include Tesco's Green Thai-style sauce and Iceland's tikka chicken breast slices – contain allergens not listed on the label, or have been printed with the wrong dates, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned.

It comes as customers suffered sudden onset nausea, projectile vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, abdominal pain and aching limbs after eating certain oyster products sold at smaller shops.

The symptoms match those of norovirus – known as the winter vomiting bug – and can be transmitted by eating food prepared by an infected person.

Customers who bought any of the above items can return them to the supermarket and get their money back – even if they don't have a receipt.

Tesco is recalling it's green Thai-style sauce for containing milk without listing it on the label – a potential allergy risk.

Meanwhile, Iceland is recalling its own-brand tikka chicken breast slices because they contain milk – which isn't listed – and the Co-op's salmon en croute is being recalled for containing undeclared prawns.

Items being recalled due to norovirus fears include Porthilly Shellfish's oysters from the Camel Estuary sold between28 October and 09 November 2021.

The FSA said: "If you have bought any oysters from Camel Estuary, Cornwall, do not eat them.

"Instead, return them to the food business from where they were bought for a full refund.

"If you are unsure if the oysters purchased were from Camel Estuary, Cornwall, please contact the food business where they were purchased or contact Porthilly Shellfish on 01208 862624 for advice."
