These clothes shops have closed their online stores during Covid-19, here’s why…

Many of our favourite fashion retailers shut their front doors last week in line with the government's isolation legislation.

The high street is currently shuttered, with many busy shopping centres and city hubs now eerily quiet.

Of course it was the smart decision, with everyone encouraged to isolate as much as possible now fashion stores are not an essential service.

But we were obviously still happy we could get our shopping fix and cheer ourselves up by shopping online instead.

However, over the past few days several major online fashion retailers have also paused taking orders through their websites and some have even temporarily closed their sites altogether whilst we battle the pandemic.

So far fashion retailers, Next, River Island, Net a Porter, The Outnet, Schuh, TK Maxx and Nobody's Child have all either stopped taking orders altogether or will not be able to fulfil new orders until further notice.

Current active orders placed before these decisions should still get to you shortly and brands are expected to be in touch if there are any issues.

If you have a return for any of the brands above, make sure to check their individual websites for updated returns policies during Covid-19.

In a touching statement on their website, River Island highlight their reasons for closing their current delivery system in order to protect as many staff as possible.

"The government has said online retailers can ‘operate normally’, but COVID-19 is serious and nothing feels normal at the moment.

As a business driven by the love of fashion, we don’t say it often, but some things are just more important.

Right now, we need to put our people first and so we’ve made the difficult decision to temporarily close our Distribution Centre.

This will help protect our teams and make sure they can do the right thing to keep their families and community safe."

We will keep you updated with any more online store closures as the news comes in.
