Alison Hammond is our saviour when it comes to the heatwave as she's got a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to staying cool.

Thanks to ITV's This Morning, they dug into their archive to share the presenter's hacks from last summer which have proved to be an absolute game changer.

Sharing how to cope with the boiling heat that the UK has been bathed in, Alison boasted that she was "a genius in keeping you cool"!

Speaking with Ruth and Eamonn in a clip from July 2019, Alison shared her recommendations, beginning with a hot water bottle filled with cold water and put in the freezer.

The same hack that Kate Garraway swears by, Alison explained: "You've got a hot water bottle, but switch it up put some water in it and put it in the freezer and you've got a cold water bottle."

Another interesting hack from Alison included grabbing a clean sock, filling it with rice and putting it in the freezer for an hour or two.

The cold rice pouch then can be placed anywhere to keep you cool, as Alison explained "it moulds to your body".

Next up Alison urged viewers to get hold of a refillable spray bottle and fill it with cold water and ice: "Then you've got your own personal cool spray bottle."

Of course the best way to cool down is always with a nice cold snack like ice cream, and Alison even had us covered there and a healthier option.

She said by getting some bananas, blending them up and then freezing them gives you a "nice cooling, healthy snack" just like ice cream but with way less calories.

Another clever hack to keep yourself cool in the heat was a fan, while pretty obvious to many (if they're not sold out), she then shared the next part of her trick.

"You can get yourself a fan, you can get a bowl of ice and you put the fan behind the bowl of ice and then you blow it and you literally cool the whole room which is wonderful."

It seems the hot water bottle turned cold water bottle is proving popular as a bit of light relief as Kate Garraway and GMB Doctor Sarah Jarvis discussed it earlier this week.

But Dr Sarah also advised hacks such as taking a cold shower before bed, but she added: “Please don't forget; never put ice directly onto your skin because that can cause ice burns.

“But a cool flannel around your neck, and possibly putting sheets in the freezer, but not again risking any ice burns, can help."
