Since McDonald’s shut its doors more than six weeks ago amid the coronavirus lockdown, fans have been trying their best to recreate their favourite fast food dishes at home, whipping up Big Macs, McChicken Sandwiches and McMuffins.

But now one clever TikTok user has shared a recipe for the chain’s popular apple pie, which is so similar to the real thing he joked McDonald’s got the recipe from him.

Food blogger @caughtsnackin, from London, revealed all you need to do is mix butter, apples, sugar and cinnamon in a pan.

Next, he simply spreads the apple mixture onto puff pasty and folds it over.

To finish, he deep fries the pies in oil at 180 degrees Celsius – adding that alternatively you can bake them too.


  • 25g of butter
  • 4 green apples, peeled and chopped
  • 30g of sugar
  • One puff pastry sheet
  •  1 tsp of cinnamon


1. Add apples, sugar, butter and cinnamon to pan and heat on low.

2. Put melted apple mix on laid out puff pastry sheet.

3. Fold sheet over to create pie shape and close sides using a fork.

The video quickly racked up thousands of likes, with McDonald’s fans claiming they intend to whip up their own versions.

‘Looks nice,’ said one, with another commented: ‘Sooo good.’

‘OMG IMA DO THIS,’ wrote a third, and one added: ‘Iftar [the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast] meal for today.’

‘Awwww that looks so goooood,’ praised another TikTok user. 

The video quickly racked up thousands of likes, with fans saying they were going to whip up their own version.

Last month McDonald’s put fans out of their misery by sharing its much-loved Sausage and Egg McMuffin recipe. 

The chain revealed all you need is an English muffin, 75g of sausage meat, two eggs and a slice of American cheese.

To make a hash brown for the side, all you need is potato and some olive oil.  

‘We’re not saying it will be as good as the real thing, but for now it’s the best way to keep those taste buds satisfied in lockdown,’ McDonald’s said in a statement.
