Where the stars of ITV’s Benidorm are now including ASDA delivery driver and tragic death

Benidorm is easily one of the most memorable comedy shows of the past 20 years.

During its ten-year run, it fast became one of ITV's most popular sitcoms, achieving a cult status that has led to endless reruns since it ended 5 years ago.

Starring Johnny Vegas, the series intended to last just six episodes followed the story of an all-inclusive resort in Benidorm and the various holidaymakers who came to visit.

Benidorm was written by Darren Litten, who previously worked on The Catherine Tate Show, and during its time on air bagged both a BAFTA and various NTA awards.

Let's catch up with the cast and what they've been up to since they bid farewell to the resort.

Jake Canuso

Jake Canuso served as Benidorm's longest-serving castmate, starring as barman Mateo Castellano throughout the 74 episodes.

After the show ended, he appeared in the stage adaptation Benidorm Live, before landing a leading role in a theatre production of Aladdin.

The 51-year-old offers personalised videos through a company called Memmo, in exchange for a fee.

“I hear Mateo is doing a lot of skiving off work to send personalised video messages directly from the Costa Blanca,” he said earlier this month, advertising the service.

Janine Duvitski

Janine played the role of swinging pensioner Jacqueline Stewart.

Since Benidorm ended, she has acted in one film called Little Joe which was released in 2019.

Other than that, it's believed that the 68-year-old prefers to spend time with her family at home.

The actor is believed to have stepped out of the spotlight to be with her four children and actor husband Paul Bentall.

Kenny Ireland

Kenny Ireland played Janine's on-screen husband Donald until his death in 2014.

The actor was diagnosed with brain cancer ahead of the filming of series six, and his passing was written into the show.

In poignant scenes, his on-screen wife Jaqueline scattered his ashes into the sea.

Costar Danny Wallters, said at the time: "Very sad news about Kenny Ireland (Donald Stewart). Thanks for teaching me how to play backgammon. RIP Kenny."

The Scottish actor, who played Donald Stewart for seven years, died of cancer in July of 2014 at the age of 68.

Asa Elliott

Asa Elliott starred as the bar singer from the Solana Hotel, entertaining the holidaymakers between 2010 to 2014.

Since the show, he has performed in Benidorm Live, as well as landing gigs singing on cruise ships travelling around the Mediterranean.

In between acting gigs, he has also been spotted working as an ASDA delivery driver around the Hull area.

Tony Maudsley

Tony played the hotpants-wearing Kenneth Du Beke who first appeared in series four.

Last year, the 53-year-old joined the cast of Coronation Street after landing the role of the kind-hearted undertaker, George Shuttleworth.

Tony has also signed up to play a father figure alongside Nigel Havers in the film The Naughty Boys, which is currently in pre-production.

Johnny Vegas

Johnny played Geoff Maltby aka "The Oracle", the pub quiz champion who would travel to the holiday spot each year with his mum.

Johnny continues to work as a successful UK comic, landing parts on panels on shows like QI and Taskmaster.

He has also appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox.

The comedian is single following the split from his second wife, Maia Dunphy, in early 2020, with whom he shares one child, a son named Tom.

Siobhan Finneran

Siobhan played Mum of the Garvey family, Janice Garvey, until 2015.

However, she wasn't off screens for long and has gone on to have a successful acting career with credits that include Downton Abbey.

Siobhan also played Clare Cartwright in Happy Valley, with her role as a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict landing her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2017 BAFTAs.

She also starred in the Netflix series, The Stranger.

Siobhan has two grown-up children – Poppy and Joseph – from her marriage to former husband, Heartbeat star Mark Jordon.

Steve Pemberton

Steve left the show at the same time as his onscreen wife, Janice Garvey played by Siobahn Finneran.

They then reunited, acting opposite each other again in Happy Valley.

Steve has also acted in Killing Eve, playing a baddie named Paul, and co-wrote and starred in the black comedy series Inside No. 9.

He lives in London with his long-term partner Alison Rowles and the couple has three kids – Lucas James, Madeleine and Adam.

Sheila Reid

Sheila played the head of the Garvey family, Madge, never seen without a cigarette in hand.

While filming Benidorm, the now 83 year old enjoyed a real-life wedding to her long-term partner Terry Bullen at a private ceremony back in 2008.

More recently, in 2017, she starred in the stage production of Silver Lining, written by presenter Sandi Toksvig.

Oliver Stokes

Child star Oliver Stokes played Michael Garvey in the hit show until 2015.

Oliver is now 22 and father to one son, who he regularly shares pictures of on social media.

Despite acting in Casualty and Doctors following the end of Benidorm, the TV star seems to have taken a step out of the spotlight more recently.

Hannah Hobley

Hannah played the Garvey's teen daughter Chantelle who returned to series two mum of baby Coolio.

Since filming ended, the actress, now 32, turned her talents to the stage, appearing in productions of Sleeping Beauty and Dick Whittington.

She also launched a TikTok account which shows her recreating the tune to popular TV show theme songs.
