A portal to hell?
A woman raised eyebrows on the internet after discovering a creepy light emanating from the drain of her hotel bathtub. Photos of the bizarre find have racked up thousands of views in 24 hours on social media.
“I’m in a hotel and I just noticed that the bath drain has a light coming from it. What could it be?” the unnamed hotel guest wrote above the pics, which they posted Wednesday in the Facebook group “Things Found In Walls – And Other Hidden Findings.”
The photos show the circular trap emitting a strange orange glow reminiscent of rocket thrusters or an old-school industrial furnace.
Intrigued Facebook sleuths tried to shed light on the find.
“That’s clearly a portal to hell,” suggested one commenter.
Others described the proverbial hellhole as “creepy as f–k.”
“Uh dunno, but if someone down there asks if you’d like a balloon, just say no,” joked another member in reference to the sewer-dwelling clown from “IT.”
Some actually provided believable explanations for the glow-in-the-dark drain.
“Most hotels have a chase between the rooms where all the mechanical systems are exposed so they can be maintained,” speculated one Facebook plumbing expert. “If the trap in the tub is plastic and the maintenance person left the light in the chase on, it will be visible in your room. That’s probably what’s happening here.”
This isn’t the first time someone has made a spine-tingling discovery in their bathroom.
A New York City renter petrified the internet after happening upon a “Parasite”-esque space behind the bathroom mirror of her apartment.
The portal didn’t harbor anything sinister, but it did parallel a 1980s Chicago murder case in which a woman was killed by someone who crawled through her bathroom mirror. The appalling crime reportedly provided the inspiration for the 1992 horror flick “Candyman.”
