Will Prince Harry Join Prince William for Unveiling of Princess Diana Statue in U.K.?

Since stepping down from their royal duties in 2020 Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have been residing in California with their son, Archie, and haven’t been back to the U.K. However, because of some major events occurring in the next few months, including the unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue, Harry was expected to return to London.

But considering what we now know about Harry’s relationship with Prince William questions are mounting about if the Duke of Sussex will fly back at all let alone stand beside his brother at the ceremony.

When and where Princess Diana’s statue will be

The statue of the late Princess of Wales will be unveiled on July 1, 2021, which would have been her 60th birthday.

The statue was commissioned by Harry and William to “recognize Diana’s positive impact” and will be unveiled in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace.

“The princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy,” according to a statement via People.

Will Harry attend the event?

Now, the question on the minds of many royal fans is: Will Prince Harry attend the event alongside his brother? Several royal experts have discussed the topic of whether or not that’s a likely possibility following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“How is that going to happen? Unless they can sort this out before July but it’s fast approaching,” ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship said (per the Express).

Royal Rota co-host Lizzie Robinson chimed in: “We always thought we would see the brothers reunited on that incredibly important day for both of them to be there to mark their mother’s legacy and the statue. But currently it will be incredibly difficult, won’t it?”

Ship has doubts Prince Harry will attend in person opining: “I would put it at no more than 50% that he will be there. Either he will Zoom call into the ceremony and say it’s because of the pandemic, or they will have a reason around the birth of their baby girl.”

Last time Prince William and Prince Harry appeared at the same event

It’s been over a year since the princes appeared at the same event.

The last time the public saw Willliam and Harry in the same place at the same time was with their wives at Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day Service on March 9, 2020.

Outsiders couldn’t help but notice the tension between the couples the day they were gathered at the church together. Before sitting down, William turned to Harry and Meghan and gave a brief “hello.” They smiled and offered pleasantries to him as well. But William’s wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge did not even make eye contact with the Sussexes who were seated right behind her for the service.

Only time will tell if the siblings are able to patch things up and come together to see the unveiling this summer.
