AJ Pritchard has explained how he sat outside a hospital "all night" as his girlfriend Abbie Quinnen got treatment for horror burns inside back in January.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star and his girlfriend had been trying to replicate a TikTok video, in which a flame is used to make a wine bottle into a vase.

But tragedy struck when it all went wrong and Abbie was engulfed in flames, with her clothes and hair catching fire.

AJ and his brother Curtis Pritchard spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Tuesday's This Morning about the incident and the aftermath.

The 26-year-old said: "I sat outside the hospital all night, knowing she wasn't going to come out that night, knowing it was very serious."

He went on: "I didn't know what to do, Curtis was like, 'We kind of need to go home, she's not coming out tonight.'

"I couldn't go into hospital because of Covid, but I just waited for her.

"She stayed in hospital for five nights, moving from Ealing to Chelsea and Westminster Burns Unit."

The troubled star said: "I think one thing in this time, you'd be at someone's side, you'd be able to hold their hand, hug them and help them, and all we could do was be that lifeline on the phone."

Abbie has had three skin grafts and 20 hospital visits since the terrifying ordeal on January 19.

AJ said: "Seeing her that first day, picking her up, was the happiest day of my life.

"Seeing her walk to me out of the wheelchair, getting her back in bed, the first couple of weeks all we could do was what the nurses said and clean the wounds every four hours."

He went on: "Having someone at home and having the situation where you can hug them and help, whatever it was, I was there for her 24/7.
