Alexander Armstrongs embarrassment after Dancing on Ice star didnt know he was

Dancing on Ice star Matt Evers has revealed the details of an "awkward moment" he had with with Alexander Armstrong.

The professional ice skater, 45, met the 51-year-old Pointless host for the first time in 2019 when they both appeared on The All New Monty: Who Bares Wins.

Alexander presented the show for the second year running when Matt replaced Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez in the line-up but speaking recently, Matt revealed that he initially had no idea who Alexander was.

On the uncomfortable encounter, Matt told "When I met him on the first day, I didn't know who he was… like to put a face to a name."

On eventually recognising Alexander after hearing him speak, Matt added: "I was like, 'Oh my God, you're the voice.'

"I knew Alexander's voice more than I did his face."

While the encounter was initially awkward, Matt confirmed that the pair eventually "just laughed about" the mishap.

He added: "Awkward moment when you meet somebody and you’re like, 'Oh, it's you.'"

Despite the mishap, Matt only has positive things to say about Alexander moving forward.

On working with The Armstrong and Miller Show star, Matt confirmed: "He is awesome, he is a huge support for all of us.

"Because he did the show last year as well, it was nice to have someone in the room who could lead us a little bit."

Dancing on Ice will return to screens for its 2022 series next year.

Its contestants include former Strictly star Brendan Cole, Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor, S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens, Love Island's Liberty Poole, Pussycat Dolls singer Kimberly Wyatt and The Vamps hunk Connor Ball.

Olympic silver medallist Kye Whyte, presenter Ria Hebden, Happy Mondays star Bez, Regan Gascoigne, Ben Foden and Paralympian Stef Reid complete the line-up.

Dancing on Ice returns to ITV next year.
