Amanda Holden was chosen to announce the votes from the UK for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. However, many of those watching Amanda announce the jury votes, were left baffled by the Britain’s Got Talent judge’s outfit.

Amanda opted for a floor-length sequinned gown with feather detailing around the neck and cuffs.

While many watching Eurovision thought the star looked glamorous, others compared her to Big Bird.

Taking to Twitter to comment on her appearance, one viewer shared: “Holy moly Amanda Holden is literally dressed as dustin the turkey!!! #Eurovision #irelandedouzepointe.”

Another added: “What’s more embarrassing, this scoreboard or having Amanda Holden announce your points? #Eurovision.”

“#Eurovision amanda’s outfit is just so eurovision,” a third continued.

Someone else tweeted: “Did Amanda Holden getting fashion tips from Big Bird? #Eurovision.”

A fifth posted: “Er Amanda what are you wearing? Im confused #UK #Eurovision2021 #EUROVISION.”

However others were obsessed with Amanda’s appearance and showered compliments on the star.

“Love Amanda HGolden is wearing a zoo’s worth of Ostrich feathers,” one fan tweeted.

Another continued: “Amanda is all the feathers and I’m living for it #Eurovision #uk.”

Amanda took to her official Instagram page to share a full-length image of her outside.

She captioned the image: “Who are you voting for? #Eurovision.”

While Amanda announced the UK jury votes, James Newman who performed Embers failed to get anywhere near the top of the leaderboard.

Ahead of the competition, James pleaded with UK fans to “be positive” about where he will place in the contest.

He told Metro.co.uk: “For me, turning up with a song that fits into the modern competition, I’m showing Europe that I really care and I’m really doing everything I can to put on the best performance possible.

“People are responding so well here and everyone’s being so nice – it’s a celebration of music and people used to win all the time.

“We’re the third biggest winner. It’s just about showing people that you care and really putting in the effort and everyone’s really happy we are.”

UK entry James faced tough odds to avoid placing last.

He chalked up odds of 6/4 to finish last while he had odds of 100/1 to win the 2021 competition.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Stranger things have happened, but the latest odds suggest James Newman has a near impossible task on his hands in Rotterdam tonight.”

Eurovision Song Contest is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now.
