Ariana Grande Drops Star-Studded Teaser for Epic Throwback 'Thank U, Next' Video

Multiple stars from “Mean Girls” are joined by YouTubers, musicians and more as teens who worship and follow Ariana Grande to a very uncomfortable degree.

Ariana Grande certainly knows how to build anticipation, and she had her fans at fever pitch Monday night with the reveal of a star-studded teaser for her "Thank U, Next" music video.

The teasing began in earnest with a series of images of Ariana channeling some of the most iconic girl power movies of all time, including "Mean Girls," "Bring It On," "Legally Blonde" and "13 Going on 30." Now, she’s taking it up a notch with some live-action footage, though it isn’t clear if this is from the video or unique to this teaser.

Either way, it totally does the job, with yet another surprise cast-member from "Mean Girls." Various pictures have already revealed that Jonathan Bennett will be reprising his role for the music video, but now Stefanie Drummond showed up as well.

They were joined in this video — where they blindly follow and spread gossip about Ariana — by Troye Sivan, Colleen Ballinger aka Miranda Sings and YouTuber Gabi DeMartino. Gabi’s involvement is a slap in the face to many of her detractors who’ve accused the social media star of cribbing Ariana’s look and style.

The short clip didn’t feature any music, but instead had its cast all portraying high school kids showing just how blindly and stupidly they’re willing to follow their idols.

Below are some of their most outrageous claims, but check out the full teaser above to really see what happens when idolatry goes too far:

  • "One time on Twitter, I heard Ariana was pregnant, so I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time. Turns out it was just a rumor."
  • "Ariana broke off an engagement so I found a guy to propose to me and I broke off an engagement."
  • "Ariana says ‘Honest to God, knock me out,’ so I decided to punch myself in the face. It was awesome."

Now it’s just a matter of Ariana putting out the full music video for "Thank U, Next." We’re patiently waiting. No, scratch that. We’re waiting, but it would better be described as impatiently.
