BBC Breakfast fans were left concerned for one weather presenter, as he shared his fears ahead of catching a flight.

Tomasz Schafernaker left his Twitter followers worried as he warned he is keeping a “VERY close eye” on the weather while taking a "quick, necessary trip" by plane.

The star took to the social media platform to post a picture from the airport window, showing a selection of planes gathered on the strip and a gorgeous orange sunrise over the horizon.

But, in contrast to the glorious sunshine, storm clouds were brewing.

Tomasz posted a sunrise emoji as he said: "Exactly the same as emoji. Quick, necessary trip this week.

"I’m keeping a VERY close eye on the forecast myself. Midweek onwards looks SO storm in UK and other parts of Europe… not ideal for travel."

Concerned fans flocked to the comments section to share their concerns, with one writing: "Hope your journey goes okay Tomasz. This wet blustery weather is bad enough walking in, let alone flying in."

"Safe travels Tomasz!" another well-wisher said.

As someone else posted: "Some models show Friday in particular has the potential to be very dangerous."

"Safe travels. I hate this rough weather…" a fourth fan followed up.
