Brittany Murphy asked 'am I dying' as mother-in-law begged her to go to hospital before tragic death new HBO doc reveals

BRITTANY Murphy asked if “she was dying” as her mother-in-law begged her to go to the hospital before the star’s tragic death.

Just one day before the beloved actress shockingly passed away in 2009, she was urged to seek medical help from husband Simon Monjack’s mom, Linda, HBO’s new doc revealed.

Linda Monjack appeared in the HBO docuseries, What Happened, Brittany Murphy? which had its second episode premiere today.

She was joined by her other son and Simon’s brother, James Monjack, as she opened up about the sad final moments with her daughter-in-law.

The matriarch recalled a conversation with Brittany the last time she saw her, in which the Uptown Girls star claimed she “couldn’t walk up the stairs.”

According to Linda, Brittany asked her: “I’m having trouble breathing. If I go up the stairs, by the time I go to the top of the stairs, I can’t breathe. Do you think I’m dying?”

Linda insisted she responded: “Of course you’re not dying, but you need to go to the doctor.”

The England native revealed that was the final time she had ever spoken to her daughter-in-law, and the following day, she got the “harrowing phone call” from Simon.

Brittany was found dead at the age of 32 in her home in Los Angeles in December 2009.

The Los Angeles Coroner officially ruled her cause of death as pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication due to prescription pills.

Just a couple months later, Simon also passed away from similar symptoms – leaving fans looking for answers to this day of what really happened to Brittany.

HBO’s new two-part documentary also features new interviews with others who were closest to her, detailing the circumstances surrounding her marriage to Simon and her death.

After the Clueless star’s death, Dr. Lisa Scheinin, a deputy medical examiner at the time, conducted an autopsy to learn more about what happened.

In the documentary, the doctor revealed that her tests showed that the beloved actress “would’ve had a chance” to survive if her husband Simon had taken her to the hospital sooner.

Both Simon and Brittany’s mom, Sharon, had said after the death that Brittany was sick in the weeks before, though no one ever did anything about it.

Dr. Scheinin said the autopsy showed that Brittany was a “very anemic person” and that she was suffering from “severe pneumonia” at the time of her death.

She added that these things could’ve easily been seen in tests had she been taken to the hospital while she was alive and doctors could’ve started her on treatment – possibly saving her life.

On top of those two health issues, the doctor said the toxicology report claimed there was “no evidence of alcohol or any drugs of abuse in her system.

However, the report alleged she did have “prescription and over the counter medications” in her body.

“This could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back,” she said of what might’ve led to Brittany’s death.

Simon was married to second wife Brittany from 2007 until her death on December 20, 2009.

He was found dead just five months later on May 23, 2010, in his house in Hollywood, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The coroner’s report found the cause of his death to be acute pneumonia and severe anemia, similar to the causes attributed to his wife Brittany’s death in the same house.
