This year hasn’t been easy for David Platt (played by Jack P. Shepherd) despite Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) returning to Weatherfiled. In fact, it has been a struggle for the Coronation Street resident to adapt to his estranged wife’s new personality. In recent weeks, ITV viewers have seen David grow frustrated and snap at Shona for her mistakes, with his personal and work life suffering every time he has to drop his plans to drag her out of some mess she has created or found herself in. In upcoming weeks, the hairdresser will learn snippets of Ray Crosby’s (Mark Frost) plans to regenerate the Street, could David make a deal with the shady businessman in order for his to put his financial worries aside and focus on his relationship with Shona?
Official soap spoilers have revealed how the Platts will gather to celebrate Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) belated 80th birthday.
But as with their impromptu summer barbecue, the event doesn’t go according to plan.
Corrie fans will see David intervene at a crucial moments when he catches Shona about to take Max’s medication instead of her own.
It is with a heavy heart he realises she is not safe to be left unattended.
A few days later, those closest to the Platts arrive to raise a toast to the matriarch and Gary Windass (Mikey North) uses this opportunity to have a closer look at the sinkhole in their back garden.
Being a former builder, Gary offers to put David in touch with a specialist company to get it fixed.
But the barber reveals he has had a conversation with Ray, who has offered to buy the house outright.
Gary’s probing questions are the last of David’s worries, because Shona turns up with several random guests she has just met at the cafe.
Frustrated by Shona’s innocence, David throws the strangers out of the house, and tells everyone that the party is cancelled.
Shona is utterly confused as to why David is acting so irrationally and things turn worse later that week.
Shona’s case worker Aaron usually visits her one every week or two, but he cancels their upcoming appointment and David is forced to take Shona to work with him.
However, disaster strikes when David’s client arrives for a haircut.
Shona instantly takes a dislike to Hugo and when David’s back is turned, Shona shaves Hugo’s topknot off.
Between apologising to the client and scolding Shona, David is left feeling utterly torn.

To make matters worse, Shona is later offended when David declines her suggestion to share a bed together.
Worrying it is far too soon for any intimacy, Shona hurls her dinner at the wall and storms out leaving David to look at food dipping off his mother’s wallpaper.
Express.co.uk spoke to the actor who plays David about working alongside Mark.
When discussing the 60th anniversary storyline which centres around the iconic Platt family, Jack was asked whether he thinks David could square up to Ray when he finds out what the businessman is up to.
After all, viewers have seen him confront Gary a fair few times…
“No he’s not [scared by the villains],” Jack replied.
“He’s killed a few hasn’t he Gary Windass? I don’t think David knows about that though!
“I don’t know, we’ll have to see what happens with Ray.
“I’ve had a few scenes with Mark – in lockdown. Quite a few, actually, I really like the guy. He’s really really really nice, I hope, I hope he sticks around for a bit.
“I hope it’s not the end of his as his character in the show.
“Whatever they decide to do, but nice really nice guy and I’ve loved working with him so far,” Jack added.
Perhaps Jack and Ray will strike a deal which will see the barber earn more money but spend less time working so he can be there for Shona and his children?
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
