Coronation Street's Kym Marsh speaks out on Tracy Barlow's secret role in car crash horror

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh has revealed that she wants a new showdown between Michelle Connor and Tracy Barlow after the truth about next week’s car crash comes to light.

Michelle and her sons Ryan and Ali are left in terrible danger when gangster Ronan Truman chases after them on the road, wanting to avenge the death of his son Cormac.

Although Michelle frantically tries to get away from the murderous villain, her car stops suddenly due to being sabotaged by Tracy. This leaves the Connors sitting ducks for Ronan’s revenge in must-see scenes.

Unbeknown to them all, Tracy had deliberately vandalised the vehicle at the garage earlier in the day, wanting to get Abi Franklin into trouble. This petty act comes when Tracy briefly thinks that Abi has been sleeping with Steve.

Asked by Digital Spy whether there could be a fight between Tracy and Michelle in the fallout, Kym replied: “I would love that, because it would be a bit more between Tracy and Michelle.

“But actually what I quite like about Tracy and Michelle is that Tracy always snipes at her and Michelle just goes ‘whatever’. I quite like Michelle’s complete dismissal of her!

“I’d quite like to be involved a bit more with Tracy Barlow, but it always ends up being Carla who has problems with Tracy.”

Discussing the crash scenes themselves, Kym added: “We were filming for five days in total. It was a bit like being on a film set, because we were outside of the studios for such a long time. Normally you’ll go on location for a day and then you’re back in.

“There was such a lot of screaming and shouting from me for the scenes, so it was great. I went back to my Wigan roots for that! It was great but I lost my voice by the time the night-time came, as my throat was really sore.

“You’ll see that Michelle is a bit like a lioness with her cubs. I think when you’re a mum, you can’t help but have that instinct where you want to protect your children. Michelle wants to protect not just Ryan but Ali as well.

“Ronan has threatened them all at this stage, so they’re all in danger and Michelle realises it’s her job to protect the boys. I totally get it and I would be exactly the same in that situation.”

Coronation Street kicks off its big car crash week on Monday, October 8 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
