Coronation Street's Sally Carman 'wants to kill' Corey star

Coronation Street’s Sally Carman has joked that co-star Maximus Evans is so good at playing vile Corey Brent that it makes her want to kill him!

The actress, who plays Abi Franklin in the ITV soap, had nothing but praise for Maximus, branding him ‘brilliant,’ telling Metro.co.uk that she thinks he’s playing his role ‘so truthfully.’

‘Just watching the scenes in court, as I wasn’t there, and seeing [Corey] on screen with his half bored, menacing looks,’ said Sally.

‘Max is brilliant, he just doesn’t care if the audience like him or not. He’s playing it so truthfully – he’s properly going for it!

‘It just makes me want to kill him!’ she joked.

‘I’ve done loads of stuff with Max and he’s such a nice guy!’

Max’s alter-ego, however, is anything but nice, something which was made very clear during Friday’s (September 10) episode, as – following a tense trial – the jury found Corey not guilty of murdering Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).

Abi was distraught to discover that Corey was a free man, and in sinister scenes, the killer winked at her as he exited the court room.

‘I think she was daring to believe that justice could be done,’ said Sally, discussing the outcome of the trial.

‘That’s why she did everything by the book. With Imran saying: “Trust me, I will get something on them, you were right about Eli.”

‘She was hopeful, which is really hard because she’s had a life where she was let down a lot. It was sheer will for her to believe that perhaps that justice will be done, but of course it isn’t!

‘There is no way Abi can leave it at that. She can’t let that go, because the injustice is too much. She has a cut-off point and not only has it been reached, it’s been crossed!’

Abi, as Sally hinted at, will be unable to accept the verdict, and thus she will set out on getting revenge via her own methods.

The revenge plot will reach a dramatic peak in October, during the show’s super soap week.

‘It’s huge, and life-changing and all of those things,’ said Sal, teasing what’s to come. ‘But it’s like she’s being driven by a force that she can’t stop. It’s slightly out of her hands as well, as she has to do what she’s going to do.’
