Corrie Jane Dansons marriage to co-star – teenage crush to tragic miscarriage

Coronation Street star Jane Danson has played Weatherfield resident Leanne Battersby on and off for over two decades.

Recently on the soap, she's been forced into a new role of mum after poor Sam's mother Natasha died, leaving Leanne's partner Nick to look after him.

The 42-year-old actress first joined the cast of the ITV soap back in 1997 before leaving three years later in 2000.

Jane made an explosive return to the cobbles in 2004 and has been a firm fixture on the show ever since.

In the past few years, her character Leanne has had a tough time in her personal life with the tragic death of her son and getting dragged into the dealings of a drug gang.

Despite being part of the longest-running soap for over 20 years, many Corrie fans don't know that she is married to former cast member Robert Beck.

As well as starring in Brookside, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, Robert joined the cast of Coronation Street as Tony Gordon's henchman Jimmy Dockerson back in 2008.

He only stayed on the show for 12 months but his relationship with wife Jane is as strong as ever.

The couple first met at the inaugural British Soap Awards ceremony in 1999.

Robert, 52, and Jane tied the knot in 2005 and are parents to two sons.

Harry was born in 2006 and Sam was welcomed into the world three years later in 2009.

In December 2018, Jane announced that she had miscarried a third child, which she and Robert discovered at their three-month scan.

Jane previously revealed that she has had a crush on Robert since she was 15.

She plucked up the courage and introduced herself to the actor at the glitzy ceremony.

The Corrie beauty told OK! Magazine back in 2019: "I'm not the world’s most confident person but I’d had a crush on Rob since I was 15, so I thought, I have to speak to him, it’s fate.

"Rob’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in 20 years.

"I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals."

Jane's character Leanne was at the centre of a heartbreaking child death storyline last year.

Steve McDonald and Leanne were forced to say goodbye to son Oliver in November last year.

But her troubles didn't end there, as her non-biological son Simon soon got involved with the wrong crowd in scenes which aired earlier this year.

Coronation Street continues on ITV on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm
