'Dancing With the Stars': Will the Show Feature These Celebrities in Season 30?
After two contestants from Bachelor Nation took home the Dancing With the Stars Mirror Ball, many fans are curious about casting for future seasons. Will DWTS continue to cast ABC talent in season 30?
‘Dancing With the Stars’ has featured many stars from ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘The Bachelorette’
Throughout the show’s 29 seasons, there have been several competitors from Bachelor nation. That’s likely because both shows air on the ABC network. Plus, Bachelor Nation is a fiercely committed fandom that is always craving more from its stars.
So far, four former Bachelors have been on Dancing With the Stars: Jake Pavelka, Sean Lowe, Chris Soules, and Nick Viall. As far as Bachelorettes, Trista Sutter appeared in the first season of DWTS. More recently, Hannah Brown and Kaitlyn Bristowe starred in the dance competition show. Both Brown and Bristowe have won a Mirror Ball.
Artem Chigvintsev and Kaitlyn Bristowe won ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 29
Bristowe and Chigvinstev beat Nev Schulman and Jenna Johnson for the season 29 Mirror Ball.
“I honestly was like, ‘Are they really going to let two Bachelorettes win?’” Bristowe told Variety, referencing Brown’s season 28 win. Bristowe credited the Bachelor fandom and Chigvintsev and Nikki Bella’s “loyal fans” for their victory.
Bristowe’s win came after the controversy accusing Bachelor producer Mike Fleiss of barring Bristowe from doing Dancing With the Stars.
“I believe men and women should be afforded the same opportunities,” Bristowe said on the Off the Vine podcast. “I was told by Mike that it is bad for his brand. He is sick of people wanting fame from his show.”
Bristowe continued to speak out about Fleiss, something she ultimately feels helped her get on DWTS.
Will anyone from ‘The Bachelor’ or ‘The Bachelorette’ be on ‘DWTS’ Season 30?
Many fans wonder if the next season of Dancing With the Stars will feature any celebrities from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. With the last two Mirror Ball winners coming from Bachelor Nation, pro dancer Cheryl Burke hopes producers don’t bring any more Bachelor Nation stars onto the show to avoid a conspiracy.
The millions of people tuning in to watch eligible men and women find love often turn their attention to Dancing With the Stars — especially when a former Bachelor or Bachelorette compete.
“This is all about America,” Backstreet Boy AJ McLean said on an episode of the Pretty Messed Up podcast, which he co-hosts with Cheryl Burke. “It’s all about the audience voting.”
“A Bachelorette won last season as well,” Burke added, referencing Brown and Alan Bersten’s win.
Burke also mentioned how difficult it is to compete against a fan base like Bachelor Nation. In the past, Burke said she pitched the Dancing With the Stars producers on not casting Bachelor Nation stars. Burke’s purpose in doing that was to avoid a conspiracy theory and prevent fans from thinking DWTS will only allow ABC talent to win the show.
While the judges’ scores certainly have some pull in deciding the winner of Dancing With the Stars, the fact is fan votes count, too. At this time, it’s unclear if the show’s producers will heed Burke’s advice and shy away from casting anyone from The Bachelor or The Bachelorette next season.
