Danny Dyer almost vomits after axing a sheep’s head and eating Viking food

Danny Dyer was close to vomiting on his new show Right Royal Family after trying his hand at Viking ways.

Fans will remember the hilarious moment when the EastEnders star discovered on BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? that he was descended from royalty.

Now, the hardman has the opportunity to find out more about what his ancestors got up to in his new show, where he tries to learn more about his royal blood by acting like some of his ancestors, including Viking leaders and kings.

The first of his ancestors was Rollo, a Viking who became the first duke of Normandy, starting off the Norman reign.

In order to get in the spirit of this, he wore some Viking outfits and learned how to sword fight, ride a horse and battle like a proper ruler.

After this, he was asked to try some delicious Viking food to replenish his strength, but he was not too impressed with what he was served – especially when he was told to cut open a sheep’s skull with an AXE.

The Viking reenactment team gave him cheese "from a sack" and then showed him the head of a sheep, which he would need to slice with an axe on a block.

He did this, breaking the skull with a vile crack which made him evidently shudder, before he even had to eat it.

The skull was then prepared for him, so all he had to do was eat it.

First, Danny ate some of the sheep’s tongue, or "had a bang on the old tongue," and said: "Oh yes, nice that is, really nice. a Bit of French mustard wouldn’t go a miss, but as tongue’s go, beautiful."

Next up, however, he had "a nice bit of, I don’t know what it is, a bit of wood."

But that did not go down very well at all, as he barely chewed it and said he was "going to the ."

He later joked about how the food went straight through him, but he looked more like he was going to be sick, as he rushed out of his Viking hovel after his stomach was heard audibly rumbling.

And it didn’t sound good.

Right Royal Family continues on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC1.
