DC has just revealed exciting details about Wonder Woman 2, Aquaman and Shazam!

It was a big day for the DC Universe at CinemaCon on Tuesday (April 24), as the comics giant revealed some exciting details about three major movies it has in the works.

Firstly, Wonder Woman 2. Rumours that the sequel would take place during the Cold War in the 1980s are in fact true.

Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news at Warner Bros.’ presentation, and although she didn’t specifically mention the Cold War, she did say it will take place in the ’80s.

Meanwhile, footage from Aquaman was also unveiled with director James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II all in attendance, Variety reports.

Even though Wan insisted that the movie is nowhere near ready, he said that Warner Bros. still made him cut some footage for the event. But it doesn’t look like he had much to worry about, as the response to the clip was pretty positive…

“I’m a blunt instrument and I’m damn good at it,” Momoa’s Aquaman/Arthur Curry says at one point in the footage.

Speaking to the crowd, Momoa also compared the movie to the adventure and scale of Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. No pressure or anything…

Finally, Shazam! director David Sandberg was there to unveil some behind-the-scenes footage from the film.

He teased the movie as a superhero version of Big with family audiences in mind, which sounds pretty damn exciting to us.

So, after the let-downs that were Justice League, Suicide Squad and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, perhaps Wonder Woman 2, Aquaman and Shazam! are the ones to finally deliver the DC Universe we’ve all been waiting for?

Wonder Woman 2 is on course to begin production this summer, in order to reach US and UK cinemas on November 1, 2019.

Aquaman is currently slated for a release in the US on December 21 and in the UK on December 14.

And Shazam! will hit cinemas on April 5, 2019.
