Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (played by Don Warrington) thought he saw something special in troublesome Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) and suggested he join the Saint Marie force to avoid going to prison. The newest edition to the Death in Paradise team has had a bumpy ride so far but will the Commissioner decide Marlon isn’t up to the job and sack him?
The Commissioner asked JP Hooper (Tobi Bakare) to take Marlon under his wing and the police officer wasn’t very impressed with the new recruit at first.
Since joining the team, Marlon pocketed money which was meant to be used to fix the police motorbike amongst a host of other unruly behaviour.
However, Marlon struck a deal with Selwyn for him to be given one more chance and if he messes up he’ll serve double the amount of time in prison than he was originally sentenced.
Ever since then, the new recruit has mostly kept himself out of trouble and slowly developed a relationship with JP in the BBC drama.

However, a cryptic clue shared by actor Tahj suggests the character could be saying goodbye to the Saint Marie police.
On Reddit, a Death in Paradise fan revealed Tahj admitted he “actually has no idea” if he’s returning to the series.
The fan explained the actor had shared this on his Instagram Stories during a Q&A session.
In Friday’s instalment of the drama, spoilers confirm Marlon’s future on the team is in jeopardy.
Selwyn announces his training scheme is being reviewed – but will Marlon have done enough to persuade the Commissioner that he’s willing to learn?
Death in Paradise fans certainly hopes so as they took to Twitter to praise the character following last week’s episode.
The instalment saw the conclusion of Camille Bordey’s (Sara Martins) two-part return and Marlon’s sweet crush on the detective was explored.
One tweeted: “Another great episode – the comedy is back thanks to Marlon.”

“@TahjDMiles is doing a brilliant job – thanks again to all cast and crew for filming my favourite show,” another wrote.
Someone else suggested: “Marlon is like a Junior Dwayne #DeathinParadise.”
“Trainee Officer Marlon Price is the best thing to happen to this show in years. He’s brilliant #DeathInParadise,” a fourth remarked.
“Warming to Marlon in #DeathInParadise. He seems like he has a good heart and is just a bit misguided. Hoping to see his friendship with JP develop and him become a great copper,” another added.
“Marlon being instantly head over heels for Camille is a mood – She is absolutely amazing. #DeathInParadise,” a sixth shared.
Elsewhere, a trailer for Friday’s episode suggests Neville Parker (Ralf Little) may confess to his growing feelings for Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert).
In the clip, he says: “I shouldn’t be enjoying her company this much,” and later in the car together she tells him: “We need to talk about this.”
Will the pair realise they both have feelings for each other or will Neville be left heartbroken?
Death in Paradise continues on BBC One on Friday at 9pm.
