EastEnders’ Aunt Babe star is worlds away from Walford as she wins Hollywood award

Annette Badland has undoubtedly come a long way from Albert Square.

The 71 year old is best known for her iconic and villainous role of Danny Dyer's evil aunt Babe in the long-running and popular soap EastEnders.

However, since leaving the show in 2017 after three years, the actress has hit Hollywood with her role as Mae the Landlady in the critically acclaimed award-winning comedy series, Ted Lasso.

And Annette looked completely unrecognisable from her soap days as she scooped up a prestigious award while virtually attending the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday.

Annette swapped her downtrodden Walford style for a glamorous purple dress.

The stylish dress boasted a low-cut collared neckline and cinched in at the waist with belt detailing.

The talented actress toted her belongings in a chic black clutch bag and ensured maximum comfort for the evening with matching flat black shoes.

Annette's short white locks were perfectly blowdried while a pair of dangling black hoop earrings framed her face.

She completed her look with smokey eyeshadow and a deep purple lipstick that matched her stunning dress.

During the event, Annette was joined by other cast members of the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso that went on to win Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple also star in the series.

Meanwhile, viewers all over the nation grew to hate Aunt Babe Smith as her scheming exploits ruined lives in EastEnders.

Aunt Babe was also responsible for sending Shirley Carter to prison after Shirley took the blame for alcohol being served in the Queen Vic before legal hours.

Annette previously revealed that she received scary death threats from fans of the show who thought she was Danny Dyer's evil aunt Babe in real life.

Speaking on the Distinct Nostalgia podcast, she said: "Towards the end, I did have death threats. Which is very shocking and frightening," before adding that the police urged her never to tell anyone where she was going.

She added: "So I was quite frightened for a bit. And you just have to go about your life and hope for the best."
