EastEnders' James Alexandrou says Noel Clarke ‘had too many of us scared for too long’ and is 'ashamed' he kept quiet

EASTENDERS actor James Alexandrou today shocked fans by claiming Noel Clarke "had too many of us scared for too long".

The 36-year-old – who played Martin Fowler on the BBC soap from 1996 to 2007 – says he’s "ashamed" he didn’t speak up.

His emotional message to fans came after Bulletproof actor was stripped of his Bafta last night after it was alleged he sexually harassed, groped and bullied women.

James wrote on Twitter: "Noel Clarke had too many of us scared for too long.

"I genuinely feel ashamed I didn’t do more to stand up for friends of mine he hurt.

"Innocent until proven guilty, but this was long overdue."

The Guardian reports the allegations from 20 women against the married actor relate to a period between 2004 and 2019.

He's been accused of a range of acts, including sharing sexually explicit pictures and videos without consent.

The actor is currently appearing in ITV’s new drama series Viewpoint, which has since been cancelled.

It comes as:

  • Noel Clarke liked a tweet about 'learning from your mistakes' days before the allegations came to light
  • Noel Clarke's Kidulthood co-star Jaime Winstone told him 'time's up' as Michaela Coel backed accusers
  • Noel Clarke's Bulletproof co-star Ashley Walters broke his silence and said he's 'in shock' at allegations
  • ITV cancels final episode of Viewpoint over the "serious nature of the allegations"

The final episode was set to air this evening, but has been pulled by channel bosses.

It will however, be available on the ITV Hub, with a spokesman telling fans: "We are mindful that some of our viewers have already invested four hours of their time over the past four nights in following this thriller which was due to conclude this evening, and they have yet to see the final episode.

"As such we plan to make it available on ITV Hub tonight for a limited time for any viewers who wish to seek it out, and watch its conclusion."
