EastEnders viewers will bid farewell to Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) over the festive period.

It was confirmed earlier this year that Danny Dyer will be leaving the BBC One soap.

A trailer for the dramatic Christmas episodes, titled Mick Carter's Last Christmas, has dropped and it doesn't look good for the Queen Vic Landlord.

In upcoming scenes, it appears awkward around the dinner table as Janine Butcher's (Charlie Brooks) lies unravel as Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) investigates to expose her son's scheming partner.

Mick appears to be fed up of all the arguments and tells his family he wants to enjoy his final Christmas at in his beloved boozer.

Fans what have to wait to find out exactly what happens to Mick but it was recently revealed that EastEnders is the British soap opera most likely to kill off a character in their Christmas special this year.

The BBC One serial drama has racked up the highest number of deaths during the Christmas period over the year with a total of 17 over the 38 Christmas specials to date.

That means that there’s a 44.7% chance a beloved EastEnder will kick the bucket this December.

With Danny exiting the soap and the statistics, it appears that Mick could be about to leave Albert Square in a body bag.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson for KingCasinoBonus.uk said: "For many, the announcement of the Christmas TV programming schedule is when it truly feels like Christmas in the UK.

"Aside from the classic Christmas films, the lineup guarantees to include a number of new Christmas specials, and the soaps are arguably one of the most highly anticipated.

"Soap fans will know that, typically in an unforeseen twist, characters often meet their untimely death during the Christmas specials, with some of the most memorable deaths of all time taking place in episodes airing between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day."

They added: "We wanted to analyse historical data in order to work out which leading British soap most often kills off a character during their Christmas special, and therefore which show is most likely to this year.

“Our data shows that EastEnders is significantly more likely to kill off a character during the Christmas special than any other British soap.

"With a shocking seventeen Christmas special deaths under its belt, it’s certainly the soap most likely to cause some Christmas drama.

"Through comparing these stats to the years the show has been running, we can predict there is a 45% chance an Albert Square resident will perish this Christmas."

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
