Ellen DeGeneres in tears as she takes final bow as show wraps after 19 seasons
Ellen DeGeneres has made an emotional final bow on the last episode of her chat show.
The 64-year-old comedian can be seen in a sneak preview clip from the final moments of tonight’s episode being overwhelmed as she steps out in-front of her live audience for the last time.
The audience gave Ellen a standing ovation as tears filled her eyes as she finished the show for the final time after 19 seasons.
Ellen struggled to hold back her tears as her wife, Portia de Rossi was also visibly upset in the audience and her brother Vance DeGeneres sat on the front row.
The TV legend held a hand on her heart and said ‘thank you’ as the crowd were cheering for the final time.
The last episode of her show will air on Friday 27 May with a host of star-studded guests including her long-time friend, Jennifer Aniston and music superstars P!nk and Billie Eilish.
The Friends actress was also Ellen’s first guest on the show back when it started in 2003.
It will be Jennifer’s 20th appearance on the show that has seen a host of A-Listers return to bid farewell to Ellen’s reign as the show’s host.
In recent weeks, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, Zac Efron and Bruno Mars have all appeared to speak with Ellen.
About the show ending, Ellen said: “When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore.”
Referencing the allegations of a toxic environment on set, Ellen said: "There was a lot that happened during that time that was unfortunate but it is what it is – you go through stuff in life and you just keep learning and growing. That's how I have to look at it."
In the interview with the The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen also opened up about the end of an era and how emotional the final season has been to film.

“I knew going in that this season was going to be my last season, so I really tried to take everything in,” she began, “And it’s funny because the last couple of months I was more emotional than I was in the last week or two.”
“I got really emotional about two months out, but that last week I wasn’t because I really just wanted to enjoy it. I was working with [former monk] Jay Shetty a lot, too, on being present and I was. I was very present for all of it.”
The Finding Dory voice actress also revealed that she would be tempted by a “big juicy film” role after her long stint as a chat show host.
She added: “There's definitely that opportunity, and there’s been a couple of offers for that. And it just depends on timing. That would be great.”
“But then I also love doing stand-up, so I can always write another special and go out and [perform], which is Portia's preference. She really loved when we went out on what she calls, "a tour." She doesn't understand, we only went to seven cities.”
