Fiona (played by Yemisi Oyinloye) made her return to the Emmerdale village in Thursday night’s dramatic instalment as the new girlfriend of Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick). Viewers of the ITV soap know she has made an appearance before as the woman Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) slept with a few months ago when he and his partner, Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) were going through a rocky patch. Charity (Emma Atkins) rubbed her hands with glee when the secret came spilling out at the end of the episode but Fiona could set her sights on the village vixen as she plans revenge on the stalwart for ruining her relationship.
The latest episode of the weeknight serial drama began with Vanessa excited for her loved ones to finally meet Fiona after so long.
Charity was seething before the newcomer arrived, as she seemed to be jealous of her ex-girlfriend moving on with someone else.
Even though she is now in a relationship with Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), she was clearly still interested to see who Vanessa was with, a clear signal her boyfriend picked up on.
When Fiona finally touched down in the village, Charity’s jealousy went through the roof and she made excuses to watch her former lover from Mackenzie’s garden.
With her interest piqued, she turned up at The Hop where Vanessa, Tracy, Nate and Fiona were all meant to be enjoying some lunch.
However, she and Mackenzie watched on as Nate and Fiona seemed to be having a heated argument but the troublesome pair didn’t know the context of the conversation.
Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) son was telling the newcomer to leave as he didn’t want her in the village as Tracy could find out they slept together.
When Charity confronted the couple, they told her they were having a heated debate about football as they supported different teams.
She wasn’t buying any of it but at this moment, it was clear there was a spark between the two women as neither of them was willing to back down.
Deciding to leave them to it, Charity and Mackenzie walked away and it wasn’t until later they dropped the mother of all bombshells.
We’ve slept together
With Vanessa and Tracy in high spirits, Charity approached them and without saying anything, the tension between Fiona and Nate was clear.
As Nate said he would explain, Fiona told him to “shut up” but the sisters wanted answers about how their partners knew each other.
“We’ve slept together,” the newcomer declared, explaining it was only once and it was whilst she and Vanessa were on a break.
With the secret out in the open, Charity and Mackenzie backed away as they had done their job by causing some trouble.
By the end of the hour-long episode, it was clear both the couples were going to separate, with Vanessa telling the cheaters to stay out of the house.
This means it is likely Fiona is going to be a single woman going forward and she could be sticking around in the village a little bit longer.
If she does stay, she could decide she wants to get revenge on Charity for destroying the one relationship in her life she thought was stable.
Therefore, she could start watching the stalwart and begin making notes on what weaknesses she can play on to enact her plan.
One of them could be how insecure Mackenzie seems to be with their relationship as he thinks she will cheat on him.
With this information in hand, Fiona could make it her mission to drive them apart as Charity did to her and Vanessa.
The newcomer could start flirting with Charity and organising meetings together so they could get to know each other a little better.
As the stalwart picks up on the chemistry she has with Fiona, she could begin to fight the urge to let passion take over.
Thinking how Mackenzie would react if he discovered she cheated would only act as a deterrent for so long as Charity’s history proves she is unloyal.
She could give in to temptation and begin an affair with the newcomer, who provides her with the spark she thought she’d lost with her boyfriend.
However, Fiona would make it clear she is sleeping with the iconic villager so Mackenzie finds out the truth about his girlfriend.
Having promised him she would never cheat, Mackenzie would view this as a huge betrayal and end the relationship on the spot.
Charity could feel guilty but she knows she could turn to her lover for support as she thinks they would make a good couple.
It’s at this moment she could discover Fiona has been playing her and she has no intention of pursuing Charity anymore.
With her world shattered, Charity could venture on a long road of redemption as she tries to make amends for her mistakes.
But will anyone forgive her?
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV.
