Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton's story to be left on two-month cliffhanger

Emmerdale’s Katherine Dow Blyton has revealed that the storyline between Harriet Finch and Mark Malone (Mark Womack) has been left on a ‘two-month cliffhanger’ due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Not exactly ideal!

The soap, like many others, was forced to shut down production due to the health crisis, but will now be returning with social distancing measures in place.

And Katherine is keen to get back to her storyline as she admitted the cliffhanger is a bit much, even for her.

‘I’m not involved in the isolation episodes,’ she explained. ‘[But] hopefully we’ll get back and we continue this storyline.

‘A two month cliffhanger is too much for even me!’ she pointed out, adding that the soap’s production is ‘going to be very different’ now.

As for whether the soap will address coronavirus beyond its specific isolation episodes, she explained that they’ll be ‘playing it by ear’.

‘Soaps are there to reflect things that are going on in society. I think these isolation episodes are going to do that,’ she said.

However, she added: ‘I do wonder if people want a big of escapism after that.’

Emmerdale viewers were also recently left on a cliffhanger, after Harriet was seen meeting dodgy detective Malone at a hotel.

During a recent episode, the vicar was wracked with guilt over what she’d done, but at the same time, she struggled to be in Will’s (Dean Andrews) company — especially as he went out of his way to make things up to her, which seemingly made her feel all the more guilty.

An argument ensued between the two, and before long, Harriet found herself in a hotel in Hotten — where Malone was waiting for her in one of the rooms.

It seems as if she’s set to begin a full-blown affair with the bent copper.

Chatting on This Morning, Katherine teased: ‘There’s a deep feeling, a deep attraction there.

‘She doesn’t know if there’s [a future] with Will.’
