Emmerdale star used 'real feelings' to play heartbreaking Maya and Jacob scenes

‘I think seeing this story, and the fact they invested so long in the grooming, it allows people to see how he’s been taken a vantage of. He’s still a victim.’

She added that as she and Joe-Warren Plant have worked together since he was seven-years-old she was able to tap into real emotions when confronting Maya about what she’d done.

‘Having a storyline where you feel he’s been taken advantage of, it’s helped me to play the difficult scenes because the love you feel is there,’ she told Lorraine. ‘You can’t help but feel naturally protective of him.’

Roxy revealed that the nature of the scenes has often been difficult to film, so she has turned to yoga to de-stress and clear her mind.

‘We’ve all got so much going on so taking time, even if it’s just 10 minutes a day to breathe and centre – it gives your brain a break,’ she said.

Tonight sees the continuation of the story as David realises he needs to find his son before Maya harms him further. Will they be able to track Jacob down?
