Epic new trailer for Netflix's The Rain pretty much confirms it'll be your next binge-watch

Netflix has cornered the market on Young Adult horror shows, but it looks like The Rain might give Stranger Things a run for its money.

The Rain originates from Denmark, and takes place in a world where a virus transferred through the rain has wiped out most of the population of Scandinavia (and possibly the wider world too).

Six years later, young siblings emerge from an underground bunker to find a Scandinavia ravaged by decay, and a lawless world where roving gangs kill potential rivals on sight.

Have a look at the latest trailer below:

The world changes for these siblings when they encounter another group of young survivors, with whom they find kinship, romance and the desire to carry on in the face of a brutal new world.

“It’s not just surviving,” one of the kids says in the new trailer. “It’s about hope.”

The Rain‘s cast includes several young stars breaking out onto the international stage, including Mikkel Følsgaard (A Royal Affair), Alba August and Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, as well as some familiar faces like Iben Hjejle (High Fidelity) and Lars Simonsen (The Bridge).

This series was created by a writing team that includes Borgen veteran Jannik Tai Mosholt, Christian Potalivo and Esben Toft Jacobsen.

The Rain will premiere worldwide exclusively on Netflix on Friday, May 4. Watch a previous teaser for The Rain below:
