Ex-Love Islanders reveal ways producers ‘stir’ and ‘heavily edit’ footage
Former Islanders Frankie Foster and Theo Campbell have opened up about the ways Love Island bosses would try to inject tension into the villa and how they would edit footage to fit certain storylines.
While the ITV2 show has been even more popular than ever this year, with it recently scoring a record-breaking number of viewers for the channel, it has also been criticised for its editing of certain Islanders.
In particular, fans have been raging over Frankie’s relationship with Samira receiving very little airtime.
Appearing on The Wright Stuff today, Frankie opened up about his own opinion of the editing on the show. He also revealed how bosses encouraged him to watch the show beforehand so that he could "stir things up" in the villa.
Meanwhile Theo claimed that footage from the show is "heavily edited" to make certain storylines fit.
Frankie began by saying what life had been like since he came back.
"It’s been good fun since I’ve been, the whole reception from everyone has been so positive, it’s been really nice to talk to everyone," he said. "It’s just been good fun – it’s been non-stop but it’s been such fun."
Host Anne Diamond said: "You didn’t go in there at the very beginning, you were sort of parachuted in there halfway through-ish."
Confirming that he had, Anne asked: "Were you allowed to watch the show before you went in?"

"Yeah," Frankie replied. "They encourage you to watch it so they want you to know what’s going on."
Anne suggested: "So you can stir things up…"
"Yeah exactly," Frankie said. "So you know what’s been going on and who’s in there are who you like and who you won’t like.
"So it’s quite strange to meet the people that you’ve been watching on TV, which is weird because you have an opinion of them but you don’t know how real that opinion’s going to be because you only see snippets of them."
Frankie then went on to reveal that since leaving the villa, he and Samira had been "pretty much inseparable", adding: "We’re spending each day together."
Asked what he thought about his scenes with Samira being edited out, he said: "Yeah, I mean I haven’t had much time to watch it back, there’s a lot to get through, but from what I’ve been told and the response from social media is that they didn’t see enough of us.
"When she did leave people were slightly angry… and then people thought ‘What have they not been showing us for her to have that reaction?’."

Anne turned to Theo and asked him about feeling he had been "heavily edited" after watching the show following his exit last year.
Theo added that main episode showed the day in "little snippets", but acknowledged: "It’s all part of the show, they can’t show everything, so they just make it for the storyline."
