Fans utterly broken as Doctors icon dies after 14 years

Doctors left viewers in absolute tears after Karen Hollins (Jan Pearson) died in unexpected scenes.

The popular character, who has been a mainstay at Letherbridge for 14 years, had been contemplating a fresh start with husband Rob (Chris Walker) in recent weeks, set to leave for good.

But heartbreaking scenes on Thursday (March 30) saw Rob return home to find his beloved Karen unconscious on the sofa.

Without wasting a moment, the policeman called an ambulance, with paramedics subsequently arriving at the scene, before pronouncing her dead.

No, you’re crying.

Doctors’ audience were devastated by the tragic twist, which no-one saw coming, with viewers subsequently taking to Twitter to discuss the shocking scenes.

‘I have watched #Doctors from right at the beginning,’ wrote one social media user. ‘today is a sad day, RIP Karen x’

‘I can’t believe they’ve killed off Karen!,’ exclaimed another, heartbroken by the development.

The police man will start to tinker with his car in a bid to distract himself, but he just ends up snapping at Imogen in frustration.

He and Imogen are further upset by unwelcome reminders from the estate agent about the proposed house move, which is now off, as arrangements for the funeral commence.

Doctors continues Monday April 3 at 1:45pm on BBC One.
