Fear the Walking Dead is renewed for season 5

We’re only halfway through season four of Fear the Walking Dead but fans will be delighted to know that it has already been renewed for a fifth season.

AMC confirmed the good news yesterday (July 28) on the TCA Summer Tour, Deadline reports.

The Walking Dead spinoff’s current season has seen some major plot twists, as well as a crossover with its parent show when Lennie James joined the cast as Morgan.

Showrunner Scott Gimple has refused to rule out further crossovers, despite the original show’s time jump antics, telling Digital Spy recently: “I wouldn’t expect it all the time, but things could happen.

“You never know who might pop up on Fear the Walking Dead, and that includes not only The Walking Dead [characters] but even potentially people from the past of Fear the Walking Dead. You never know.”

UK-based viewers who want to catch up will be able to on free-to-air when Fear the Walking Dead comes to E4 from the very beginning in the coming months.

Speaking of spinoffs, AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul has also been renewed, meaning fans can look forward to season five once four, due to premiere next week, is done and dusted.

BBC crime drama McMafia, which aired on AMC in the US shortly after its British premiere, will also be returning to the network for its second season.

Fear the Walking Dead will return for the second half of season four on Sunday, August 12 in the US, with AMC UK airing the midseason premiere at the same time at 2am on Monday, August 13, exclusive to BT customers.
