First contestant revealed on The Masked Singer UK as Alien leaves

The first contestant has been unveiled on The Masked Singer UK – and fans are gobsmacked at the big reveal.

On Saturday December 26, season two of The Masked Singer UK launched on ITV, sending fans into a frenzy as they tried to guess the first few costumed celebrities who showed off their singing skills on the show.

After Alien, Swan and Badger landed in the bottom three, the panelists chose for Alien to be eliminated from the competition.

As the studio audience waited in eager anticipation for the celeb to unveil their true identity, they removed the top part of their costume… revealing Sophie Ellis-Bextor underneath the mask.

Viewers couldn’t believe their eyes at the first massive surprise of the series.

‘That did not sound like Sophie Ellis-Bextor! She’s great,’ one person tweeted.

Another remarked that they ‘didn’t see that coming’ when Sophie was revealed.

Several viewers expressed their disappointment over the singer being the first contestant to leave the competition.

‘We’ve been robbed of further performances,’ a Twitter user wrote.

‘Sophie Ellis-Bextor finishing last in a SINGING show?! Cancel it,’ another added.

Over the past year, Sophie has entertained her Instagram followers with Kitchen Discos, sharing videos of her and her family dancing and singing to pop hits in their home.

She later released a Kitchen Disco album, featuring a range of her biggest hits.

While Sophie was revealed as Alien in the first episode of The Masked Singer, the rest of the costumed stars are yet to be identified.

Nevertheless, fans have strong suspicions Robin, who was voted to stay on the programme by the studio audience, could be Aston Merrygold from JLS.

Could their predictions turn out to be correct? With The Masked Singer, anything’s possible!

The Masked Singer UK will be available to watch on ITV Player.
