Here's what that One Tree Hill 'reunion' is all about

UPDATE: One Tree Hill fans, Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles and Antwon Tanner were messing with you. Kind of?!

One day after stoking fans’ hopes for a revival season, Entertainment Weekly reports that they’re actually just working together on a totally separate project a made-for-TV holiday movie called The Christmas Contract, to air this December on Lifetime in the US.

Burton stars as web designer Jolie, who’s returning to her hometown for her first Christmas since breaking up with her long-time boyfriend Foster (Hunter Burke). After hearing that Foster intends to bring his new girlfriend home for the holidays, Jolie and her BFF Naomi (Ackles) hatch a plot to make him jealous.

Naomi’s brother Jack (Buckley) will pose as Jolie’s new boyfriend, in exchange for her designing a website to promote his new novel. And thus, we have our Christmas contract.

Booo…

ORIGINAL: Are we about to take a trip back to Tree Hill?

One Tree Hill cast members Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles and Antwon Tanner all took to social media to hint at a “new project” they’re working on together.

Then, just as quickly as the posts were made, they were deleted. Very mysterious. (You can see screenshots of the now-missing posts below).

The posts all included the hashtag #christmas2018 – are we asking for too much if we pin our hopes on a One Tree Hill festive special on Netflix?

The original show – set in the fictional town of Tree Hill – ran for nine seasons between 2003 and 2012, and originally followed two half-brothers, Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty), who compete for positions on their school’s basketball team.

One Tree Hill explored the fireworks that resulted from the brothers’ romances, with Burton playing Peyton Sawyer (who dated both Nathan and Lucas), Buckley cast as Nathan’s sports agent Clay Evans, Tanner starring as Lucas’s long-time friend Antwon ‘Skills’ Taylor, and Ackles joining in the third season as bad girl Rachel Gatina.

One Tree Hill made headlines last year after several women (including Burton) accused series creator Mark Schwahn of sexual harassment. Schwahn was fired from his latest show, The Royals, in the wake of the allegations.
