How to Avoid Avengers: Endgame Spoilers From Footage Leak
It seems like spoiler leaks are inevitable for big movies these days, and now it’s happened for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. As of last night, second-hand footage of the movie made its way online, instantly spreading major spoilers across social media and numerous websites. We’re in the endgame now, so here’s a list of precautions you can take project yourself from spoilers.
Stay Off Social Media
Social media has become a part of many peoples’ daily lives, but if you don’t want to get spoiled, then consider taking a break from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the like until after you’ve seen the movie. You can go a little over a week without all those cute puppy GIFs, right?
If you find it hard not to fire up those social media apps every time you pick up your phone, consider uninstalling them for the time being. Who knows, not gluing your eyes to your screen for hours on end might lead to doing something more productive, like catching up with an old friend or reading a book. (Books are made of tomes of paper and tell a complete story, think of them like really long Twitter threads.)
Block Out Spoilery Words
If you can’t afford to stay off social media for one reason or another, then all hope is not lost. There are several different ways to block key words and phrases that might be attached to spoilery content, either by going into the settings of your various social media accounts or by installing a browser extension.
If you go this route, then here’s a list of terms worth blocking to get you started: avengers, endgame, marvel, spoilers, footage leak, iron man, tony stark, captain america, cap, steve rogers, black widow, natasha romanoff, nat, hulk, bruce banner, hawkeye, ronin, clint barton, thor, war machine, rhodey, james rhodes, okoye, rocket, nebula, thanos, infinity gauntlet, infinity stones, gamora, loki
Don’t Read the Comments
Trolls get their kicks by ruining things for other people, and one of their most common tactics is to spoiler-bomb comment sections. They might even target articles unrelated to Marvel movies, just to catch people off guard, so it’s best to avoid every comment section you can, just in case.
Editor’s Note: we’ve disabled comments on this post in the spirit of keeping spoilers locked down.
Go Into Hiding
Staying off the internet can only do so much, so if you’re especially spoiler-sensitive, then it’s probably safest to leave town under the cover of darkness, drive into the mountains, and hide out in a cabin.
Destroy Your Phone
There’s always that one friend who can’t help but cold text you spoilers.
Cut the Power
No one can know where you are.
Push Your Car Off a Cliff
No one can spoil you if they think you’re dead.
Fight Your Tether
You’ve unwittingly set yourself up for a home invasion just like in Jordan Peele’s Us, so now your Tether has come to torture you with a pair of golden scissors. Fight it off with everything you’ve got. You need to know what happens to Tony, Cap and the rest of the gang, so you’ve got to make it out of this alive. Luckily the Tethered can’t speak, so at least they won’t spoil anything for you as you struggle for your life.
May as well go for a hike while you’re out here. There’s a stream down the way where you can wash all that blood off.
