Ian Hyland thrown by the Cruising With Jane McDonald clues about her final song

Much as I love Channel 5’s Cruising With Jane McDonald, I’m starting to think our Jane is onto us re the whole “Which song will she sing at the end?” thing.

Consider the evidence. In last Friday’s South American series finale she was in ARGENTINA finding out all about the life and times of EVA PERON.

She even had a little CRY at the cemetery when she went to visit the former First Lady’s tomb.

So Jane was 100 per cent going to close the show with Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, right?

Wrong. She did Another Suitcase In Another Hall instead.

Which means I’m really going to have to up my game for the next series.

Put it this way, if Jane heads down to Brazil and Mexico I’ll be ignoring any day trips she makes to Copacabana and Acapulco.

Not that there was anything wrong with Jane’s version of Another Suitcase.

To be honest it was a relief that all her talk about Uruguay having the world’s longest national anthem had proved to be a red herring – although I probably should have known Jane would never waste six minutes of valuable cruising time singing that.

There was too much other stuff to fit in, most of which seemed to involve Jane necking as much free wine as she could.

She also got stuck into some Uruguayan tango lessons which had me wondering whether she’s harbouring a secret wish to be a Strictly Come Dancing contestant.

Imagine that. A Bafta and a Glitterball in the same year.
