I’m A Celebrity camp swarming with blood-sucking leeches after heavy storm

I’m A Celebrity stars this year will be faced with even more terrors as usual after a storm bashed camp this week.

A plague of blood-sucking leeches and giant earthworms have taken over the jungle where the show is filmed in Murwillumbah, New South Wales.

More heavy rainfall is expected over the next few days driving creepy crawlies out of hiding and close to where the celebrities lay their heads to sleep.

And there’s not even any respite in the jungle waterfall where they wash as leeches have infested the water, accordng to the Sun .

Forecasters in the region have warned heavy storms and downpours will blight the area up until Sunday November 18 – the day all the jungle-based action begins.

And while Declan Donnelly and Holly Willoughby will be safely tucked away in their luxury hotel, the campmates will face a deluge of rain and bugs while setting up camp in the jungle.

A source previously told the Daily Star: “The place has been through a drought for the past few months and everyone has been praying for some rain.

"Now it’s set to come right at the start of I’m a Celebrity.

“Holly had better pack her wellies for the launch, as well as her swimsuit.”

Meanwhile, fans have spotted that the show’s first day is actually on Ant McPartlin’s birthday.

The TV presenter – who was yesterday “told off” by a judge for not turning up to his divorce hearing – will spend his 43rd birthday back in London with his girlfriend, Anne-Marie Corbett, and won’t be in Australia for it for the first time in 15 years.

A source said: “We’re sure Dec and Holly will mention it’s Ant’s birthday on the opening night and raise a mug of tea to say ‘cheers’”.

The cast and crew are ready to head out to the Gold Coast imminently – and it’s been revealed that Holly Willoughby will be staying in a £1,800 a night apartment for the duration of the show.

Holly, her husband and kids will be joining this year’s plethora of Z-listers who have left the jungle in staying at the super-glamorous five-star Palazzo Versace on Australia’s Gold Coast, a short drive away from the I’m A Celebrity camp filming location .

And when we say glamorous, we’re talking opulent decor, award-winning restaurants, a spa, private marina, a huge pool, impressive rooms and suites… the list goes on.

Holly will be put up in a deluxe three-bed condominium – at an eye-watering total of £63,000 for the five weeks of the show.
