King Gary season 2 release date: Will there be another series of King Gary?
King Gary: Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis star in sketch
BBC comedy series King Gary first launched in 2018 with a successful pilot, paving the way for a full series which aired this year. The show follows couple Gary (played by Tom Davis) and Terri King (Laura Checkley) and their family on various adventures. But will there be another series of the sitcom?
Will there be another series of King Gary?
Yes, is the simple answer after the BBC gave King Gary a second series recommission back in February 2020.
Season one of King Gary was dropped as a boxset on BBC iPlayer back in January 2020 with audiences able to binge the six episodes in one sitting.
Following its success on iPlayer, King Gary was greenlit for another series.
At the time of the renewal, co-creator and lead star Davis said: “Both [co-creator] James [De Frond] and I have been overwhelmed by the lovely response to the first series and the way people have taken the King family into their hearts.
“We are so humbled it resonated with so many and are both excited to be returning to Butterchurn Crescent. Lully stuff.”

When will King Gary season 2 be released?
The BBC has yet to confirm a release date for season two, however, speaking to media including Express.co.uk, Davis said: “I don’t know when it will go out.
“We’re hopefully filming at the end of February, March, April. Touch wood.”
He continued: “Filming-wise, I think as long as everyone’s tested, I think we’re starting to run out of TV, which is starting to get a little bit worrying. So as far as I know, hopefully, fingers crossed.”
Davis said he and his fellow writer De Frond were writing the storylines for season two now.
Who will be in the cast of King Gary season 2?
The main cast will be returning with Davis reprising his role as the eponymous Gary King.
Joining him will be Laura Checkley as his wife Terri King and Riley Burgin as Teddy King.
Other cast members include Camille Coduri returning as Denise King, Simon Day will take on Big Gary King and Romesh Ranganathan as neighbour Stuart Williams.
Further cast members could include Neil Maskell as Winkle, George Lasha as Voytec and Miranda Hennessy as Chloe Ferdinando.
What will happen in King Gary season 2?
Davis teased details about the new episodes, saying: “Series two is the wedding which is very Gary and Terri. It’s them becoming as close to royalty as they possibly can.
“The wedding – and I can’t give too much away – but Stuart’s going through his own battles.
“You realise with Gary and Terri, the only thing worse than having them as enemies is having them as friends.
“They try to help Stuart through his tough time. Romesh, I thought, in the Christmas special is absolutely fantastic.
“And there’s a lot of Terri and Denise going head-to-head on wedding plans.
“Terri is trying to find different ways of paying for her side of the wedding, doing numerous little business ventures. So, it’s fun. It’s the same, it’s finding the real-life things.”
Davis said he’d started gauge what audiences liked to watch and what did and didn’t resonate with viewers, trying to “build on” those things fans enjoyed.
The writer and actor admitted when he and De Frond started working on King Gary they had a rough road map for the sitcom and the characters.
He said series two would give fans the chance to get to know the Kings better.
Davis explained: “I think we can be a little bit more ambitious with the story arcs. The big thing was people would binge the show massively.
“I can’t believe people had watched episode six within a week of it all coming out.”
Is there a trailer for King Gary season 2?
