Lisa Riley returns to Emmerdale after 17 years – and she’s half woman she was
It’s 17 years since Mandy Dingle left the Dales, but she’s coming back – and she’s half the woman she was.
Lisa Riley returns to Emmerdale 12 stone lighter… and with a secret “that turns lives upside down”.
Bosses say the storyline is “self-contained” and airs early next year.
Lisa, 42, said she “couldn’t be happier” to be back in the Dales for the ITV soap.
“It’s something I never thought would happen after 17 years and I am so interested to see what trouble Mandy is capable of causing,” she gushed.
“But mostly being back with all my old friends, it’s like I’ve never been away.”
Barmaid Mandy was always at the centre of drama and will no doubt cause stir with her svelte return, especially for ex Paddy Kirk, happily settled with her cousin Chas.
Mandy left after her affair with a lecturer wrecked their marriage.
The rest of the family are also living fairly harmoniously – for the Dingles.
Lisa played Mandy in Emmerdale from 1995 until 2001 and afterwards starred in Fat Friends, Waterloo Road and last year’s award-winning BBC drama Three Girls. She is now a Loose Women regular.
Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks said: ““She’s a character bursting with fun who certainly ruffles a few feathers during her short stint back in the village.
“She clearly hasn’t lost any of the joie de vivre that made Mandy so popular and enjoyable to watch.”
