Little Mix's Leigh Anne Pinnock fights back tears during emotional speech about 'being silenced' | The Sun

LEIGH-ANNE Pinnock was holding back tears as she reflected on her life and career and 'being silenced' when speaking at the One Young World summit in Manchester.

The Little Mix popstar was appearing at the panel event in the North West which was opened earlier this week by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

The girlband star was at the event to take part in the ‘Investing in Equality’ session where she found herself overcome with emotion.

The ‘Black Magic’ hitmaker remarked on how important it was for her to be an inspiration through her music and lyrics.

Leigh-Anne said: “I’ll never forget my first writing session with Little Mix. We always knew we wanted to inspire people through our music.”

The proud mum of twins went onto disclose some information about her hotly-anticipated solo career as she teased her ambitions to continue her Little Mix legacy.

The singer said: “That's something that I hope to continue in my solo career, and anything that I do going forward. I have a voice, I have a platform, and I’m going to continue to use it.”

Leigh-Anne was appearing at the Manchester event alongside ambassador Christina Taylor and the two recipients of Leigh-Anne’s scholarship programme with One Young World – Ebinehita Iyre, Founder of Milk Honey Bees, and Shaniqua Benjamin, the Poet Laureate for Croydon.

Leigh-Anne founded her scholarship following the group’s split in order to recognise and scale the work of young leaders in the battle against racial injustice.

She went onto add: “Don’t let anyone silence you, if you know you’re doing a good thing just go for it and don’t be afraid to use your voice. You were given a voice for a reason.”
