Loose Women insist Katie Price was right to drop out of London Marathon after struggling with knee injury and praise brave star

The 39-year-old is believed to have stopped running around 10 to 15 km into the 42km course yesterday because of her health problems.

The star had been running in aid of the British Lung Foundation after her mum Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017.

Speaking on today's show, her friends praised Katie for making such a tough decision.

Linda Robson said: "How well did Katie do though? I know she didn't finish, she only got half way through, but she was doing it for her mum.

"She needs a new lung and she tried her hardest, she really, really did.

"I felt so sorry for her as she was getting so much slack yesterday."

But Anne Diamond tried to put a positive spin on things, saying: "Actually, the fact she only made it half way has gave the charity better publicity than otherwise, because everyone is talking about it."

Jane Moore added: "It's very easy to sit at home and criticise when you're not the one who's made the decision to go into the London Marathon, don't criticise those that have."

Linda replied: "You know your body, you know if you can't do it you've got to stop and she stopped and good luck to her for trying.

Andrea McLean chipped in: "She did the right thing."

Linda then revealed she had spoken to Katie's mum Amy, and that she was "doing alright" and keeping fit with her yoga and other exercises.

She added: "She's hoping to get a new lung so please God she does, she's lovely, absolutely lovely."

Andrea finished the segment saying: "Well we send them both all our love and best wishes."

Speaking after she was trolled for dropping out of the marathon, Katie told her fans: "I did train for the run ,tried my best in a heavy outfit and if my mummy is proud that’s what matters to me ❤."

Her mum Amy also took to social media to support her, saying: "I just want to say how proud I am of my daughter Katie for doing the marathon.

"She may not have completed it but she has brought so much awareness it has been worth it for the British Lung Foundation."
