Love Island viewers' hearts are melted as emotional Sam Bird and Georgia Steel leave villa in dramatic recoupling

The couple refused to partner up with other contestants in a dramatic recoupling which saw them eliminate themselves.

Sam stood in front of his co-stars and said: "I'd like to say something that's quite important to me. Obviously, me and
Georgia made a decision to split up a few days ago.

"Ever since then, I've gravitated towards Georgia. I feel like Georgia is the person I want to be with. I am falling for her. And that being said, I actually refuse to recouple and if it means I have to leave the villa then I will."

He then burst into tears as he rejoined Georgia on the sofa.

Giving a similar speech, Georgia said: "I feel like the last couple of days, I've not only lost a guy that I really fancy but I've also lost my best mate.

"I'm not going to recouple with somebody that I would be messing with their emotions because that's not me. I want to recouple with Sam inside the villa or outside the villa, whatever that might be."

The couple hugged and kissed as their friends looked on stunned.

Viewers were full of resepct for the decision, writing on Twitter: "Fair play Sam ???? Respect to the pair of them #loveisland.

"Awww Sam ?? am greetinnn #loveisland.

"nah but i'm proud of sam and georgia, finally making the right decision #loveisland.

"Sam & Georgia Tho ??? #LoveIsland."

However, there were also those who felt Sam was more into Georgia than she was him.

One viewer wrote: "Bit fake from Georgia, she definitely would of recoupled if Sam hadn’t said anything #LoveIsland."

Elsewhere, Josh recoupled with Kaz as did Dani and Jack and Megan and Wes.

There was a change for Laura Anderson, who was picked by Paul while Laura's ex Jack Fowler opted
for Laura Crane.

Dr. Alex chose to recouple with make up artist Alexandra Cane and new boy Josh was left to couple up with Stephanie
Lam.

Prior to the recoupling Sam told Georgia that his heart would break if he had to watch her couple up with a new boy.

He said: "I feel like it wasn't a bad decision to split up and see what happens.

"But what has happened is we've just gravitated towards each other.

"When we get into this couple, it's gonna be horrendous, like horrendous."

Sitting on the swinging seat with her, Sam continued: "All these things, Georgia, that would break my heart…and I'm sure they would break yours.

Crying in his arms, Georgia said: "Sam I honestly don't know what to do."

Sam and Georgia made the decision to split up during Monday night's show.

After losing both the public vote and a vote by their fellow islanders, the couple were given the option to either go home together or split up and remain in the villa.

The pair decided to remain as single islanders, but they found it a struggle.

After initially attempting to get to know four new faces – Laura Crane, Stephanie Lam, Josh Mair, Paul Knops – the pair were unable to keep away from each other.

Yesterday, sources confirmed that Sam and Georgia had sensationally decided to quit the show.

An insider said: "No one expected these two to leave and it is a massive shock.

"Their fellow islanders were stunned when they spoke about their reasons for quitting.

"It’s going to have a big effect on the show, it's a huge bombshell, and they are going to be massively missed by their co-stars."
